Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Faisal Al-Thani

CEO of Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ)

Sheikh Mohammed Al-Thani is the CEO of Qatar Free Zones Authority. He is an Advisory Board Member of Invest Qatar, the Investment Promotion Agency for the State of Qatar, and serves as a Board Member of Manateq Economic Zones.

Before being named CEO, Sheikh Mohammed was the Deputy CEO & Chief Strategy Officer responsible for overseeing the Authority’s full regulations, development, and operations, which include operations in the Ras Bufontas Free Zone adjacent to Hamad International Airport, and Umm Al-Houl Free Zone adjacent to Hamad Port. He also supervised the implementation of the authority’s drive to attract foreign direct investment and encourage investors into the free zones in Qatar.

Before joining Qatar Free Zones Authority, Sheikh Mohammed was a founding member of the investment team at the Qatar Foundation Endowment Fund. He led several projects and served as a member of the Board of Directors for a number of portfolio companies. In addition, he was responsible for the management and oversight of foreign investment funds, managed by best-in-class global fund managers.

Early in his career, Sheikh Mohammed joined Goldman Sachs. Working first in their asset management division and later appointed to the Qatar Foundation Endowment’s Strategy Committee, in partnership with Goldman Sachs.

Sheikh Mohammed holds an Executive Master’s degree in Business Administration from HEC Paris, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from George Washington University. He is also an alumnus of the Qatar Leadership Center.
