Juan Ignacio has over 20 years’ experience in architectural and urban design strategies that embody functionality, context, interactivity, materiality, and singular built physical expressions and defined bold built solutions which have transformed urban, social, economic, and environmental regeneration. 

Juan Ignacio joined ZHA in 2003 and has contributed to expanding the practice into new markets, including Spain as well as North and South America.
 
Juan has served as project director in charge of major developments across South America including L'Avenue, a luxury residential tower in Buenos Aires and the Bora Residential Tower in Mexico City, which provides residential units, with amenities, retail, and commercial accommodation at its base. 


He is also project director for Esfera City Centre, the ZHA masterplanned residential-led development in Monterrey, Mexico and oversees the development of luxury villas in Costa Rica and a confidential, high-rise prime coastal residential development In Cancun.
 
Juan has played a key role in some of ZHA’s masterplanning projects, including Spain’s Zorrozaurre scheme in Bilbao, which regenerates a 60-hectare peninsula and surrounding riverbanks just outside the city centre, and is also involved in the design of a leisure masterplan for a super yacht marina in the Bahamas.
 
An architecture & urbanism graduate from the Central University of Venezuela, Juan also holds a master’s in architecture and urbanism from the UK’s Architectural Association in London with specialisation in mix-use, infrastructure, masterplanning, ultra luxury and luxury residential/hospitality and office space. He frequently lectures and participates in panels around the world about design and construction for academic and professional audiences.
